How to Ride the Streets of DC Safely

April 18 Safety Seminar 2015

In preparation for Bike to Work Day, Black Women Bike DC will host a seminar on Saturday, April 18, 2015 on how to bike on the roads safely, followed by a bike ride on the streets of DC.

2-4pm Safety Seminar
At the seminar you will learn the ABCs of bike safety, how to navigate an urban area, and how to be visible to motorists. We will provide you with a bike map, so you can map your route from home to work.

The seminar will be at the Anacostia Library (1800 Good Hope Road, SE)

4-5pm Bike Ride
We will take a short ride around the streets of DC, so you can become comfortable riding with motorists on the road.

Who should attend?
All levels who want to be more comfortable biking on the road.

What to bring?
– Your bike
– Helmet (You MUST have a helmet to participate in the ride)
– Bike lock (bikes not allowed in the library)
– A friend/neighbor
– An open mind

Please also note:
– there is a Capital Bikeshare station in front of the library
– bikes are not allowed in the library and will need to be secured
